JOB SUMMARY


  • Works as a seasonal helper for the Williamson County Road & Bridge crew.
  • Performs entry-level work related to assisting with basic roadway maintenance and repair under close supervision.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
  • Performs manual labor for various crews on maintenance or construction related duties.
  • Assists in the proper maintenance of roadways including but not limited to shoveling, raking, mowing, weed trimming, flagging at traffic sites, hauling materials and debris removal.
  • Assists with the proper traffic control as outlined in the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
  • Communicate and work effectively with other employees.
  • Performs basic computer skills including, but not limited to, sending/receiving email and entering electronic timesheets.
  • Complies with departmental and county safety standards.
  • Readily complies with departmental and county-wide policies and procedures.
  • Performs related special projects as assigned.
  • Understands and follows verbal and written instructions.
  • The physical demands and environmental factors listed below as well as regular attendance are also essential functions for this position.
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports directly to the Foreman or designee.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
  • Must be able to stoop, kneeling, bend, push, climb, twist, stand, reach, squat, pull, drag, walk, carry, shovel, dig and lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must remain alert, have good vision and awareness of the work area.
  • Able to see and hear.
  • Able to write and read to a size 10 font.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS :
  • Works in all kinds of indoor and outdoor environments, including inclement weather.
  • May be exposed to constant noise, dust, fumes, dust, traffic, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Williamson County has adopted a Tobacco-Free Workplace policy. This policy prohibits smoking or use of any tobacco product on Williamson County premises. A smoking cessation program is offered free to employees and spouses through the Williamson County & Cities Health District.
IRREGULAR HOURS:
  • Duties may be based on a work week schedule of either four 10-hour work days or five 8-hour work days as assigned by the Sr. Director of Infrastructure, County Engineer, Director of Road & Bridge or their designee and may be changed at any time.
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary.
  • Work reporting location may be anywhere within Williamson County.
  • Essential Personnel for Emergency Situations; at the discretion of the Department Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be professional, dependable, resourceful and able to work independently.

  • Must be able to perform tasks and receive supervision in a professional manner.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Must obtain a valid Texas driver's license by date of hire.
