We are searching for the best talent for our Surgical Robotics Instruments and Accessories R&D Intern, based in Santa Clara, CA. Join our team for the summer!

Overview:

By combining advancements in medical robotics, instrumentation, navigation and data science, J&J is building a platform technology capable of expanding the applicability of robotics to a spectrum of medical procedures. The Instruments & Accessories R&D Intern will support the instruments team in developing, manufacturing and testing novel sensor-instrumented, electromechanical medical devices for use with the Monarch robotic platform. The position is available during the summer recess for up to 3 months duration. The schedule is flexible to accommodate college semester/trimester calendars.

You will be responsible for:

  • Working with an assigned mentor, driving at least one specific project in a specialized area of research, and contributing to broader projects and goals.
  • Supporting the design and development of instrumented medical devices by providing design, manufacturing, and test solutions.
  • Performing development activities such as test method development, fixture design, prototyping, testing, data analysis, programming, drawing creation, and protocol/report writing.
  • Working collaboratively with engineers, designers, technicians and other cross-functional partners to close out projects.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience

  • Education: Enrollment in an Undergraduate, Master's or PhD graduate Engineering or Physics program, or equivalent.
  • Basic experience with CAD such as SolidWorks (preferred), experimental methods, data analysis, computation and data acquisition, and technical writing.
  • Hands-on engineering and problem-solving with a proven track record of working well in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must be capable of working independently and in a team while being flexible, self-motivated, enthusiastic, curious and willing to revolutionize the world of medical robotics.
  • Ability to work on-site.
The anticipated base pay for this role is Sophomore $31.00/hr, Junior $34.50/hr, Senior $38.00/hr, Masters $45.00/hr, PhD $59.00/hr.

This position is ineligible for severance.
