Job Description

Separk Mansion in Gastonia, NC is looking for one part-time gardener/groundskeeper to help maintain the grounds at our wedding/event venue. We are located on 209 West 2nd Avenue.

Our ideal candidate is self-driven, punctual, reliable and hard-working with an eye for detail.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to landscaping/gardening, such as designing, planting and maintaining annual and perential beds, weeding, overall maintenance of plants and shrubs, fertilizing, trimming, and pruning. The ideal candidate will have experience with garden/flower bed design, the use of various landscaping/gardening tools and, and must be able to work in all weather conditions. We are looking for someone who is passionate about outdoor work and has a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities :

• . Perform gardening duties including but not limited to: installing and maintaining plants in gardens, containers, pots, and landscape settings with minimal supervision
• Design Flower beds, Containers/Pots/Urns, selecting appropraite plant/flower materials
• Perform basic grounds maintenance duties including but not limited to: flower bed design, plant selection, planting, weeding and general maintenance of plants and schrubs, containers
• Operate mowers, trimmers, and other landscaping equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance of landscaping areas.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
• Follow safety guidelines when operating machinery and using tools.
• Lead effort in planting flowers, shrubs, , and other plants.
• Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, raking, and shoveling.

Qualifications

• 3 + Experience as a professional Gardener/Landscaping/Groundsperson
• Solid Knowledge of how to prune, trim, deadhead and maintain various plant varieties
• Knowledge of fertilizers and potting mixes, soil ammendments
• Attention to detail
• Horticulture degree, master gardener or similar a plus
