Analytical Chemist
\nKelly Science and Clinical is seeking an Analytical Chemist for our client a leading Medical Device company in Rochester, New York. \n Schedule : On-site Monday through Friday day shift
\n Length of assignment: Until the end of 2025
\n Pay $26-31 an hour \n

  • Responsibilities:\n\t
  • Provide routine sample analysis (e.g., FTIR, wettability) for a mix of samples in response to daily changes in priorities.\n\t
  • Analyze materials using techniques including Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, gravimetric extractables, and contact angle measurements.\n\t
  • Contribute to R&D projects and participate in problem-solving throughout product lifecycles (development, pilot, and mature manufacturing).\n\t
  • Interpret complex datasets collected across multiple techniques to provide an understanding of surface properties.\n\t
  • Independently operate analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, etc., to generate data.\n\t
  • Record and report all lab data as per approved procedures and regulatory requirements.\n\t
  • Analyze and critique results, noting significant deviations from expected results.\n\t
  • Troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation.\n\t
  • Ensure all work is performed and documented in accordance with existing company policies, procedures, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and health and safety requirements.\n\t
  • Qualifications: \n\t
  • BS or MS in Chemistry, Plastics, Polymer Science, or Materials Engineering/Science with 1-5 years of experience and a focus on spectroscopy and/or surface analysis of materials.\n\t
  • Knowledge of vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR and Raman) including data acquisition techniques and analysis methods.\n\t
  • Hands-on chemical lab and analytical chemistry experience including strong record-keeping skills (hardcopy and electronic filing).\n\t
  • Creative and effective problem-solving skills for varied issues throughout product lifecycles and the ability to apply scientific principles to a broad range of technical assignments.\n\t
  • Willingness to support a wide range of customers from R&D to plant-level problem solving.\n\t
  • Proficient computer skills, use of MS Office software, database management, and electronic notebooks.\n\t
  • Strong writing skills.\n\t
  • Experience with chromatography a plus.\n\t
  • Experience with biomedical research and development, and biocompatibility of medical devices a plus.\n
